Graphic Design 2
Graphic Design 2
Every design tells a story and a logo tells a story with as little as one image or even a fragment of an image.
To bild confidence and create a cache of techniques, students begin by exploring techniques that can be used in logo design.
The design for Arrow Graphics was created in a free online design program called Mokofun. It is a simple shape design with a shadow effect. The font that I chose for the complany is a classic serif font to convey a classic company that has longevity.
After designing the logo for Arrow Graphics, I then create a second iteration by creating a vector image of the original. Running this through an SVG filter was an easy way to acheive this. There are a choice of filters, each one detects different edges. In choosing the different filters I found that the font was also altered. Because of this I needed to create 2 seperate svg graphics, one for the arrow and one for the name. They were then combine in in PicsArt to create the final image.
I contemplated using the orginal font and changing the color to black, but felt that the softer edges created by the svg filter were better suited to the newly created logo.
In this iteration I used a bezier pen tool and set the line to elipse. Comparing all of the iterterations I prefer this logo. It has a mid-century modern aesthetic that looks fresh. The serif font is grounding in its appeal to a long standing tradition of graphic design.
Web ads
Web design has allowed graphic designers to bring their ads to life through animation. Where a powerful image was once the requirement to attract an audience, a simple animation now allows a design to attract attention through movement.
Known as a gif, these are simple compressed bitmaps that combine several images, or frames, into a single file. These images are displayed in succession with varying frame rates to create a short low-file-sized animation. A gif, ends on the last frame and are often seen in a looping sequence.
Image editing programs like Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, and Microsoft GIF Animator can be used to create GIFs.
Media Modifier is a great online tool for creating designs. Creating a gif can be a difficult task and if you can find a readymade gif to insert into your design, Media Modifier might be the solution. It has a library of Gifs that might be helpful if you can find the gif you need.
It functions similar to PicsArt that you can import your design elements and use this as an editing tool.
If choosing this program, please use this for editing your original elements together. This is a graphic design class where you learn to create original designs that tell a story. Please do not use the readymade templates
